Golf Swing on the Rocker Board: what you need
- Basic Beginner Level
balance rocker board with a tilt angle of 18°.
It's easy to make a Rocker Board:
- Piece of board about 2 feet long. Glue a piece of Styrofoam tubing underneath the board and you are in the balance groove…
- You can buy the tube anywhere swimming pool toys or floating accessories are sold.
- Classic Balance Board
- The board adjusts from basic to advanced with a simple twist of the wrist.
Exercise for both balance boards
Criss cross your arms across your chest, bow at your hips and feel weight moving toward the balls of your feet to maintain balance. Slowly rotate into back leg, feeling the weight moving into the heel of your back foot. Slowly feel the weight switch to your front leg, first to the ball of your foot and then into your heel as you rotate to finish. Repeat, changing the rate of pace as your balance allows, until you reach your normal body rotation swing speed. You say a balance board is not handy?

Sitting in a chair with your eyes closed, wiggle your toes and feel them go limp. Imagine playing shots off uneven lies. Imagine the feel of weight in your feet as you see yourself hitting those shots. I promise you won't fall out of the chair from that treacherous downhill lie.

- Smart tips from my peers in golf
Manuel de la Torre – Top 100 teacher. I recommend his book, Understanding The Golf Swing', to golfers who strive for simplicity. Below is an excerpt from page 214, Shift the weight to the front foot on the forward swing.
- Weight should and does transfer to the front foot in perfect synchronization with the club's swinging motion as a response to that motion.
- The player can never establish the proper rate of transfer consciously. It will be done either too fast or too late, mostly it will be too fast. The player will tend to slice.
- The weight transfer to the front foot should take place in the same manner as it does when throwing a ball underhand – naturally and as a reult of the mottion.
